Foundation showdown: Almay vs Rimmel vs Wet n Wild

Affiliate links included

As a combination skin suffer, I have all the worst skin conditions all at once. My nose is too shiny, my pores are too big, my cheeks are dry, and of course my acne. I have begun the hunt to find the best foundations for combination skin, and live my dream of clear good looking skin.

First I tried Almay Smart Shade with SPF 15. They claim:

" there's no more guessing or stressing over what Shade of Makeup is right for you. This revolutionary Colorless foundation contains microscopic Color beads that are activated when you You'll get sheer coverage with a Natural finish, so your skin looks smooth and even Nourishing antioxidants like grapeseed, ginseng and gingko biloba help give skin a healthy glow. Each of the 3 Shades cover a wide range of Color. All you have to do is choose the one closest to you."

What I thought: Not impressed at all. It starts as a white color and then as you blend the beads are suppose to break down and match your skin color. Mine was darker and did not cover any of my spots or redness. I would not recommend trying this out.

Next up is Wet n Wild Ultimate Match with SPF 15. They claim:
"Glides on weightlessly for sheer-to-medium coverage that's never heavy, chalky, or dull. Evens out flaws with a silky, semi-matte finish that let's your skin's natural luminescence shine through. Contains SPF 15 for the ultimate in anti-aging treatment."

What I thought: This is by far my favorite of the foundations I tried here. I love the ability to build the coverage and it gives off a nice shine. Not one that you need to wear sunglasses but it makes your skin look alive! It matches my tone perfectly and the price is hard to beat.

Rimmel Stay Matte is meant to be a shine control foundation. Not a like from me. It made my face look super cakey. The coverage is amazing, I just wish it settled better.

By a mile the Wet n Wild foundation won. It's still not the one I'm looking for but it's a start.

What's your favorite foundation?

ipsy Glam Bag: May Fresh Picks Edition

Affiliate links included

ipsy glam bags for May have been shipped! ipsy is definitely the one beauty subscription bag that I never skip. For only $10 you receive a very neat cosmetics bag that is different every month and worth saving, with around 5 sample sized beauty products. Ranging from hair, to makeup, or even the tools you use to get yourself ready, you can customize your ipsy experience by filling out the survey when you sign up.  The theme was natural fresh picks. Sorry the pictures are so bad they're from my phone.

Included in the bag was:
Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50

Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo

Bare Foot Spa Professional Exfoliating Polish

Nailtini Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer in Adios

Pur~lisse pur~moist hydra balance moisturizer

Since I had already had a color similar to Adios from Nailtini, ispy gave a credit of 1000 points that can go towards products they reward customers with. I'm saving mine for something I really want. I was very pleased with the Bare Foot Spa Professional Exfoliating Polish, it is a nice sugary texture but not too rough on the skin and it helped my feet want to shed some of that dead skin.

Overall this bag was really a miss for me as I only liked Bare Foot Spa Professional Exfoliating Polish and the sunscreen. Hoping next month will be better.
